June 2021 Release of SMS/MMS Mobile Messaging for Mobile Apps

officeXtend and nCommand Plus Messaging Availability

On June 28, 2021, we will introduce messaging to our officeXtend and nCommand Plus mobile apps. You'll now be able to send and receive messages via SMS (plain text) or MMS (group chat, images, videos, emojis) to your colleagues or anyone who can receive text messages. All messages will come from your business number and replies will be available in your mobile app.

On Monday, logout of officeXtend or nCommand Plus, then log back in to enable the Messaging tab.

After a simple activation process, you'll be able to send and receive messages immediately. Helpful documentation will be added to our officeXtend user guide when messaging is released to the app.

Downloading the App

Make sure your app is updated to version 1.2 or 1.3 for either iOS or Android. officeXtend and nCommand Plus offer the same features and experience, but with different color schemes. You can use the same login information to access either app.





Customer Administration Portal Prep

If you currently use the Customer Administration Portal to manage your services, follow the instructions below. If you do not use this portal to manage your services, then you are all set.

To ensure you're prepared to use messaging on the release day, enable the Text Messaging feature in your Customer Administration Portal. Simply login with an administrator account, go to Manage Phone System, and click the green Features button.


A new dialog will appear with a number of additional features you may or may not have enabled yet. To enable Text Messaging, click the green Activate button on the Text Messaging row. This will start a background task to add the messaging feature to all numbers assigned to UCaaS seats with softphone client privileges. Any seats you have added in the past few months, or continue to add in the future will have messaging automatically enabled, so the Activate process above only needs to be done once.

NOTE: Only seats with softphone client access can have messaging enabled.
